Meals on Wheels of New Castle is completely self-funded. Our clients pay the exact cost of the meals; all other expenses are covered by donations from the community. Salaries, office supplies, and insurance are all necessities, but these expenses are not passed along to the clients. We rely on well meaning community members to assist with those expenses so we can keep client costs as low as possible.
Your monetary donations can be designated for general expenses, or they can be designated to help a client who has fallen on hard times and is having trouble paying their bill. You can also donate to our pet program, Help Our Pets, which is set up to provide pet food and cover veterinarian expenses for the pets of current clients.
We also accept donations of handmade items and small gifts to pass along to our clients. We have had donations such as toothbrushes, quilted pillows, bottled water, holiday cards and placemats.
